Annual Guided Retreat and Walkabout in Oaxaca,
Mexico
 |
Each summer we take a small group
of people to explore the sunny mountain footpaths of the ancient
Zapatecos in Oaxaca, Mexico. This is a great opportunity to renew
your spirits in a truly magical place. The terrain and people are
wonderful, and the accomodations are excellent. We fly directly
into Oaxaca City, and drive a short distance to the foothills of
the Sierra where we stay at the the Huapam Yuu hotel for a day or
two in order to acclimatize. From there we make our way to more
remote mountain villages which serve as second bases for a series
of walks following butterflies and birds
through spectacular forests of pines and cactus, flowers,
boulders, and bromeliads. |
|
In addition to these fantastic walks we
also enjoy other activities, such as traditional purifying steam
baths in a round womb-like structure called a Temascal, and
opportunities to visit local healers, weavers, and farmers. Quiet
evenings under the crystal clear sky are magnificent. So too is the
purity of the Mexican sun during the day. |
Our next Oaxacan retreat will
run from June (TBA) to June (TBA) 2006. The price (excluding
airfair) is $1800US. This includes meals, lodging, guides, and
local transportation. There are no hidden costs, but you may want
to bring a little spending money in order to purchase gifts or
other local goods. Since space is limited we advise that you put
down a deposit at least six-weeks prior to departure. This would be
a good time to think about purchasing airline tickets as
well. For more information please contact us at perezbaum@austin.rr.com |
